About CookBook Co.

Recipe people, in and out of the kitchen.

We’re Ralph and Sammy, the co-founders of CookBook Co. We build recipe technology on Australia’s Sunshine Coast, and we cook with it every day. Between us, there’s a love of experimenting, a love of a well-written method and plenty of enthusiasm for dinner.

Meet Ralph & Sammy.

Two different ways to follow a recipe. One shared love of cooking.

Ralph Shippam

Co-founder & software engineer

Ralph’s dinner often starts with a handful of recipes. A sauce from one, an idea from another, then a final version to make his own. Ask CookBook helps him turn up the spice, try an adjustment and adapt a dish to whoever is joining us at the table.

He brings more than a decade of software engineering to CookBook, spanning mobile apps, cloud systems, APIs and AI workflows. His earlier work at the University of Southern Queensland covered agricultural research, machine vision, irrigation and farm automation.

His work now spans CookBook, the FoodByMaria app, AppScreens and software consultancy through Salty Bytes. That experience goes into the practical details of recipe technology: capturing ingredients, keeping recipes in sync and making tools that work from the first saved idea to the finished meal.

Sammy Greener

Co-founder, product & design

Sammy likes a recipe with all the answers. What happens next? How should it look? How many minutes? She uses CookBook to keep the complete instructions and add photos of each step, so the next time she cooks a dish, the details are right there.

She brings product management, design, business planning and customer support together at CookBook Co. Her work includes CookBook and the FoodByMaria partnership, alongside product design and marketing for AppScreens and her work as a director of Salty Bytes.

Before building software products, Sammy worked in recruitment and client-facing roles, listening to what people needed and guiding them through the process. That experience shapes how she works with cooks and creators today, from understanding a food brand to making an app feel clear and welcoming.

From our kitchen to yours

We use it for dinner, too.

CookBook is part of our everyday cooking. We save recipes we spot on social media, try something new, keep a record of our own recipes and share the ones we love with family. They’re keen CookBook users too, so our recipe collections are very much a family affair.

Our different cooking styles keep us asking different questions. Can I adapt this for tonight’s guests? Have I saved every step? Will I remember what I changed? Those are everyday kitchen questions, and they help shape the tools we build.

What we bring to the table

Cooking experience. Serious technical skills.

Between us, we bring software engineering, product strategy, design, business development and customer support to every project. We understand the work behind an app as well as the person trying to cook from it.

CookBook puts that experience to work for home cooks. Our partnership with Maria Koutsogiannis brings recipe discovery, planning, shopping and cooking into FoodByMaria’s own app. We also build AppScreens, drawing on our experience of designing, launching and running software products.

Engineering for recipes

Recipe capture and OCR, ingredient parsing, nutrition estimates, translation, serving adjustments and recipe-aware AI, connected through mobile apps and cloud services.

A product people can cook with

Clear instructions, useful photos, thoughtful navigation and a journey that connects finding a recipe with planning, shopping and cooking.

A creator’s own app

A dedicated brand, recipe collection and app-store presence, with the product design, technical delivery and ongoing support to bring it to life.

Experience beyond the kitchen

Our wider work in research software, app publishing and product development helps us solve the less visible challenges, from integrations and automation to releasing and maintaining an app.

What we’re building next

Recipes that work for a whole team.

Recipe Copilot is in development for organisations that share recipes with teams or clients. We’re exploring how one managed collection can keep kitchen staff, coaching clients and students working from the right instructions.

Build with us

Great food deserves great software.

If your audience already loves your recipes, your own app can give them a place to keep cooking with you. Your brand, your app-store presence and a subscription offering create an opportunity to build a new revenue stream.

Bring us your food brand, recipe collection or technical challenge. We’ll help you explore the product and the partnership that could make it happen.

Your next chapter starts here

You bring the recipes. Let’s build what’s next.

Your own app. Your own brand. A new way to earn from the food you love creating.
