Recipe technology

The technology behind better cooking.

Recipe capture, nutritional analysis, translation, AI and the tools that bring dinner together. We build the technology behind CookBook and dedicated recipe apps, connecting every part of the cooking experience.

Capture & structure

From a recipe anywhere to a recipe you can use.

A recipe might start as a website, a social post, a handwritten card or a paragraph of text. We build the importing and recognition tools that turn those sources into editable titles, ingredients, quantities and instructions.

Websites & social posts

Capture recipe content from supported websites and social sources, retaining source links where available.

Images & AI OCR

Combine text recognition and AI-assisted scanning to read cookbook pages, screenshots, handwritten cards and selected PDF pages. Keep the original image available while reviewing the result.

Text & recipe files

Turn pasted recipe text into structured fields, or bring an existing collection across through supported recipe-file imports.

Nutritional analysis

Give ingredients useful nutritional context.

Our nutrition tools estimate calories, macros and other nutritional values from recipe ingredients and servings. People can review the result, enter values they already have and use saved nutrition in their meal plans.

In CookBook, planned portions connect to daily totals and personal calorie and macro targets. After ingredients or servings change, people recalculate and save a fresh estimate.

  • Ingredient-based recipe and per-serving estimates
  • Editable nutrition values and personal targets
  • Daily planner totals based on the portions people choose

Language, quantities & measurements

Make recipes work in more kitchens.

The same recipe needs to work for different households, languages and ways of measuring. We build those choices into the recipe experience.

Recipe translation

Translate saved ingredients and instructions while aiming to preserve quantities and structure. CookBook also offers optional import translation into its six supported non-English app languages.

Localised app experiences

CookBook runs in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish and European Portuguese. App language, recipe language and measurement preferences remain separate choices.

Serving calculations

Adjust ingredient quantities for a different number of people. The calculations handle the amounts; cooking times still need the cook’s judgement.

Measurement conversion

Work with US customary, metric, imperial and Australian measurements, temperature conversions and ingredient-specific estimates for volume-to-weight calculations.

Recipe-aware AI

AI that works with the recipe in front of you.

We build AI into practical recipe workflows. Ask CookBook can use a selected recipe, an image or a cooking question as context, helping people explore changes and review a draft before saving it.

Ideas & variations

AI Chef creates recipe ideas, while recipe variations help people explore ingredient swaps, a quicker method or a different style of dish.

Editing assistance

Help tidy ingredients, simplify instructions, suggest tags, estimate preparation times and translate recipe text. The result stays editable.

Inspiration from a dish photo

Dish Detector suggests a possible recipe inspired by a meal photograph. That is a different task from reading a written recipe with OCR.

Find, plan, shop & cook

Connect the whole cooking journey.

Well-structured recipe data makes the next steps possible. We build the features around that data so a saved idea can become a plan, a shopping list and a meal.

Search & organisation

Find recipes by ingredients, tags, cooking time and other useful filters. Favourites, photos, ratings and notes make a growing collection personal.

Recipe discovery

Explore existing recipes from social and website sources, preview an idea and save it into a personal collection. Discovery and AI-generated ideas have distinct roles.

Meal planning

Plan days, weeks or months, adjust servings, add notes and reuse plans. Saved recipe nutrition can contribute to the day’s totals.

Shopping lists

Turn chosen recipes into ingredient lists, combine compatible items, group by shopping aisle and keep regular groceries alongside recipe ingredients.

Guided cooking

Follow clear steps, check off ingredients and use timers. Adjustable text, read-aloud, voice controls and screen-awake options support cooking on compatible devices.

Cooking history

Record a cook, rate the result and keep notes about what changed. Cook counts and last-cooked dates help people return to their favourites.

Across devices

The systems that keep recipes close.

CookBook brings a personal recipe collection across iOS, Android and the web, with same-account sync and offline access to previously synced recipes in the mobile apps. We build the product experience around how people move between screens.

Importing, exporting, backups and deliberate sharing help people keep a useful collection over time. Personalisation, from colours and readable text to home-screen choices, makes that collection feel like their own.

Modular technology. Dedicated apps.

Your own app, powered by what we’ve built.

Our recipe technology is a foundation for distinct products. We combine shared recipe capabilities with the brand, content and customer experience each app needs, so a creator can build on established technology without starting from scratch.

Your audience gets your app, your recipes and your identity, with dedicated app-store pages and an agreed revenue model. We shape the feature set together, drawing on modules for recipe libraries, search, planning, shopping, cooking, nutrition and AI where they fit.

CookBook is our flagship recipe manager. FoodByMaria shows that technology supporting a dedicated creator brand. Recipe Copilot is the next product we’re developing for shared recipe work.

A few useful answers

Let’s talk recipes.

What recipe technology does CookBook Co. build?

We build recipe importing and image recognition, structured recipe management, nutrition estimates, translation, serving and measurement calculations, recipe-aware AI, search, meal planning, shopping and guided cooking. CookBook brings these capabilities together in an app people use every day.

Can this technology power an app for my brand?

Yes. We work with creators and food brands on dedicated apps using our modular recipe technology. Your app has its own brand, content and app-store presence. We agree the features, ongoing development and commercial model for your audience together.

Does every partner app include every CookBook feature?

The feature set is chosen for each product. A creator’s app may focus on a curated recipe library, planning and cooking, while another project may call for nutrition, translation or AI. We discuss the right combination before agreeing the scope.
